  • Is your child entitled to income related free school meals?

    Fri 09 Sep 2022

The October School Census determines Pupil Premium funding allocations for schools. Children who are recorded as being eligible for free school meals on the October Census will be allocated Pupil Premium funding for our school.

A child is not automatically eligible for FSM if an older sibling is already eligible: each child has to be checked individually.

Your child could be entitled to receive free school meals if you are in receipt of any of the following benefits -

    • Universal Credit - your household income must be less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get)
    • Income Support
    • Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance
    • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
    • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
    • The guaranteed element of state Pension Credit
    • Child Tax Credit (provided you're not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more £16,190)
    • Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for four weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit

If you think that your child is eligible for free school meals, please apply online as soon as possible so that they are recorded on the October Census. Please note that this refers to income related free school meals and not Universal Infant Free School Meals.

  • Non-Uniform Day - Thursday 14th July

    Thu 07 Jul 2022

On Thursday 14th July children are invited to attend school in non-uniform, for a contribution towards our school sponsoring a child in Uganda for Jamie’s Legacy. As many of you will already know, Jamie was a former pupil who sadly passed away at the age of 16 in 2020.

We need to raise approximately £150 this academic year, and £250 each year thereafter, to fund a child’s education from when they start school to when they finish.

Jamie's Legacy aims to support children in Uganda. Further details on Jamie’s Legacy can be found on Facebook by searching for Jamie’s Legacy Supporting Cefovid.

  • Portrait/Family Photography Session - Thursday 10th March - Tempest Photographers

    Wed 23 Feb 2022

Further to our letter of 2nd February, we have received 18 reply slips from families who are interested in a portrait/family photography session after school in March.

I am pleased to confirm that we have arranged for Tempest Photographers to visit school on Thursday 10th March between 3.30 p.m. and 6.00 p.m. If you would like to attend this event, please complete the slip on the letter that your child will be bringing home today, by Monday 7th March to indicate your preferred timeslot and to give us an idea of numbers. We will contact you to confirm your timeslot nearer to the date.

Tempest photographers can accommodate family groups of up to 5. They are hoping to bring 2 studios with a formal and a less formal option for photographs.

**Please note that Pandas Club will be located in Mrs Hillier's classroom after school on this date as the photographs will be taken in the hall.**

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

  • World Book Day - Thursday 3rd March

    Tue 22 Feb 2022

This year World Book Day will be celebrated on Thursday 3rd March and we are celebrating ‘Books Before Bedtime.’

On this day, we are inviting everyone to come to school in their pyjamas (or loungewear) and for children to bring in their favourite book.

There will be a range of activities across the school on the day such as creating a bedtime story for others to read, creating book characters or book settings from recyclable materials, listening to books being read, creating comfy areas/reading dens in the classroom to allow children to spend time sharing their favourite books.

  • Number Day 2022

    Wed 26 Jan 2022

We are delighted to be supporting the NSPCC by taking part in Number Day on Friday 4th February.

Throughout the day, children will take part in number/maths activities such as problem solving, artwork, measuring, maths based P.E. and much more!

The Magical Maths Club will be joining us again and they will spend time in each class. Many thanks to the Friends of the School who have paid for this brilliant activity for the children.

For a donation of your choice to the NSPCC, the children will be invited to wear an item of clothing with a number on it.

We are looking forward to Number Day and we really appreciate your support. All money raised will make a tremendous difference to children today and help change the lives of children tomorrow.

    Thank you.
