Welcome to our school!

South Hykeham Village Primary School is a warm and welcoming school at the heart of its village community. We may be a small school, but we have a big heart! We are proud to serve children and families from South Hykeham and the surrounding area, offering the close relationships and strong sense of belonging that make our school so special.

Our story began in 1871, when the school opened in a single classroom for just over 20 children. More than 150 years later, that original red-brick Victorian classroom remains part of our school. Although the buildings and opportunities have grown around it, the purpose at the heart of South Hykeham has remained constant: to care for our children, help them achieve and prepare them well for the future.

Everyone in our school community plays a part in creating the happy, supportive environment that defines South Hykeham. Our children are known as individuals, their strengths are celebrated and they are encouraged to take pride in themselves, their school and the community around them. Families, staff, governors and friends of the school work together because we believe children flourish when they feel safe, valued and understood.

We want every child to achieve, but we know that genuine achievement is not simply about reaching a final result. It grows through curiosity, effort and resilience: having the confidence to try, learning from mistakes and finding the courage to keep going when something feels difficult. These qualities sit at the heart of school life and help our children become capable, thoughtful and confident young people.

Our dedicated team provides a broad and engaging curriculum through which every child can discover their interests, develop their talents and build strong foundations for the next stage of their journey. Alongside academic learning, we place great value on kindness, responsibility and the personal development of every child.
