Dear Parents,

I hope you and your families have all had a wonderful Easter break! I have loved hearing from some of the children through email messages, photographs and letters. My email address is alex.thornhill@south-hykeham.lincs.sch.uk if you would like to contact me.

Daily Maths and English Lessons

Below you will find a week’s worth of English and Maths Lessons for your child’s year group. I would try to do these lessons in order, as they sometimes follow on from each other but feel free to edit elements if your child is struggling or finding it too easy. I would also limit your child to doing no more than one English and one Maths lesson per day to ensure they aren’t doing too much.

If you scroll down, you will find the “Supporting Resources” for Year 2 and Year 3. These give some more general, practical ideas for learning.

Please also take a look at the new BBC Learning lessons online.

Would these work better for you? Let us know your thoughts.

New Topic: The Ancient Greeks

As we have now reached the summer term, we would be starting a new topic…The Ancient Greeks!  I have uploaded some ideas and resources below with this topic in mind. Given the current circumstances, these are optional. If you feel your child is enjoying working on the previous topic (space) or another topic of their choosing, then feel free to continue with those.

I miss you all and take care!

SELF ISOLATION

Dear Year 3 Parents,

I have provided twelve maths worksheets and twelve SPaG worksheets. Please aim to complete one of each, each day. Each worksheet is differentiated by ability (1 star = easiest, 3 stars = hardest).

For a longer project, please research the British astronaut Tim Peake. You could produce a PowerPoint, a poster or a booklet about him.

Please also ensure that you are practising your multiplication tables (focusing on 2s, 5s, 10s, 3s, 4s and 8s) and reading your school reading book (or home reading books) daily.

Take care!
