We have made it! It's the final countdown until the school fully reopens next week! We can't wait to see them all back!

A final thank you for all the support you have given me over the last seven weeks by explaining work to the children and emailing me the wonderful work they have produced.

I will upload work daily as usual, along with explanations on expectations.

Please get in touch if you need any advice or reassurance. I will reply as soon as possible but please be aware I am currently teaching these lessons in school time too.

Thanks again!

Friday 5th March 2021 - A Note for Everyone in Class 2/3

Today marks the last day of Home Learning. I am really looking forward to the children coming back to school on Monday, they have been really missed!

Some children might be really excited to come back to school, which is fantastic! However, I am also aware that others will be feeling a little anxious after spending such a long time at home. If this can help to reassure them, I am completely understanding of their feelings and would like them to know that although we will still be working, we will be taking time to settle back into things and thinking a lot about our feelings. We all need to get used to school again!

Thank you again for the support, see you on Monday everyone!

Thursday 4th March 2021 - WORLD BOOK DAY ACTIVITES - Year 2 and Year 3

It is World Book Day today and the book we chose to focus on this year was We’re Going on a Bear Hunt by Michael Rosen…which is why we asked you to dress as explorers!

You can read a copy of the story by following this link:

https://en.calameo.com/read/003334310f5a757af882d

And to listen to a retelling by the author Michael Rosen, follow the link below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0gyI6ykDwds

I am not going to ask you to complete anything specific today at a specified time. Instead, Mrs Jones has put together some fantastic ideas for you and these can be found below! Have a read through and find some activities to complete that you think you would enjoy. It would be really great if you could find at least one writing activity you would like to do.

She has also made a brilliant, South Hykeham version of the story called “We’re Going on a Teacher Hunt!”. I have uploaded this below too, along with answers! Have a read! Can you guess which teachers they saw?

This is a great link that directs you to some free audiobooks to listen to!

Finally, there is the annual Design a Book Token competition to complete if you wish!

Today is all about reading appreciation. I hope you have a fantastic day reading your favourite books!

Wednesday 3rd March 20201 - Year 2 and Year 3 Afternoon Work

Tuesday 2nd March 2021 - Year 2 and Year 3 Afternoon Work

Home Learning - Week 7 - w/c. 22.2.2021

Well here we are! Back again! I hope you have all had a wonderful, relaxing half term break and that you have enjoyed the break. Hopefully, we will be back together in school soon! For now, it is back to home learning...let's do it!!

As with last term, I will be uploading the children's work on a daily basis. Again, I will upload overviews ("What the children will do") everyday to explain activities to you and the children. I will do this for morning work (just Year 2) and for afternoon work (Year 2 and Year 3).

Please remember that children should usually only pick one activity to complete for each subject, unless otherwise explained, so they don't get too tired. They would also usually get breaks between each subject, to give them a brain break.

Please get in touch if you need any advice or reassurance. I will reply as soon as possible but please be aware I am currently teaching these lessons in school time too.

Thanks again!

Thursday 11th February 2021 - Year 2 and 3 Afternoon Work

Home Learning - Week 5 - w/c. 1.2.2021

Hello again everyone! Believe it or not, it is Week 5 of Home Learning! I am missing all the children that are not currently in school but I am really happy to see the effort they are putting in at home.

I will continue to upload the work on a daily basis. I will upload overviews ("What the children will do") everyday to explain activities to you and the children. I will do this for morning work (just Year 2) and for afternoon work (Year 2 and Year 3).

Please remember that children should usually only pick one activity to complete for each subject so they don't get too tired. They would also usually get breaks between each subject, to give them a brain break.

As well as Monday's work, I have also uploaded the new, weekly Fluent in Five booklet for Year 2s. Similarly, I have uploaded the children's weekly spellings to practise this week (adding endings '-ing, -ed, -er, -est').

Please get in touch if you need any advice or reassurance. I will reply as soon as possible but please be aware I am currently teaching these lessons in school time too.

Home Learning - Week 4 - W/C. 25.1.2021

Hello everyone!

We have made it to Week 4! Thanks again to everyone who has been in contact. I am really thankful for all the hard work you are putting in at home.

Like last week, I will upload the work on a daily basis. I will type up an overview ("What the children will do") everyday to explain activities, in both the morning for the Year 2s and in the afternoon, for the Year 2s and Year 3s.

QUICK NOTE: Sometimes, it will look like I have uploaded quite a lot of work but often the PDFs are either help sheets or 1 of 3 differentiated sheets for each lesson.

For the Year 2s, I have also uploaded the new, weekly Fluent in Five booklet. This week, for the Year 2s spellings, I will be asking them to practise and then complete a test for the Bronze Spellings. I will also ask you to pre-test and begin practising the Silver Spellings.

Please also remember that Mrs Fairweather has also devised a Lego Competition! Find details below (entry hand in date is 29.1.2021).

Please get in touch if you need any advice or reassurance. I will reply as soon as possible but please be aware I am currently teaching these lessons in school time too.

Thanks again!

Thursday 21st January 2021 - Year 2 and 3 Afternoon Work

Home Learning - Week 2 - W/C. 11.1.2021

Hello everyone!

On to Week 2! Thank you so much to everyone who has been in touch. I really appreciate all the emails and the support you are giving from home. I can understand how challenging it is for you.

I will keep uploading the work on a daily basis below. I will try to explain the work I expect the children to do in an overview each day ("What the children will do"). On Mondays, I will also upload the weekly Fluent in Five and spellings.

At this age, they will need support to read PowerPoints and understand tasks but I will try to make my lessons as independent as possible. Please get in touch if you need any advice or reassurance. I will reply as soon as possible but please be aware I am currently teaching these lessons in school time too.

Thanks again!

NB: Where possible, I will try to produce worksheets that can be easily copied by you or whoever is looking after you straight from the internet to reduce your amount of printing. I will also try and put on PDF documents in place of PowerPoints so they can be accessed easily on both iPads and laptops. (edited 7.1.2021)
